The Eaton Recreation Centre has recently undergone upgrades, delivering a refreshed look and improved facilities for the community.

Shire President Cr Tyrrell Gardiner said the upgrades have given the Centre’s main changerooms, toilets, and showers a much-needed refresh, creating a more modern, comfortable, and accessible space for all users.

Cr Gardiner said the improvements were a welcome update to one of the Shire’s most popular community hubs.

“The Eaton Recreation Centre is a valued place where people of all ages come to be active, connect with others, and support their wellbeing,” Cr Gardiner said.

“These works ensure the Centre continues to meet the needs of our growing community well into the future.”

Key improvements include:

  • Upgraded changerooms, showers, and toilets.
  • New accessible toilets now located in the hallway outside the main amenities, improving access for everyone.
  • A wall at the Centre’s entry has been removed to open up the space and make it more functional.

The upgrades were made possible thanks to funding through the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program – Phase 4.

Cr Gardiner said the Centre has also received a fresh coat of paint outside to brighten its appearance and match the improvements inside. Remaining works include internal painting and upgrades to the entry flooring, plus revamped branding and new signage.

He said the Centre recently ran some exciting promotions for current and new members with the Member Moves Challenge, plus the Kickstarter free group fitness.

“We’re proud to continue investing in facilities like the Eaton Recreation Centre that support healthy, active lifestyles and build strong community connections,” Cr Gardiner said.

“The Centre offers a wide range of health, fitness, sport, childcare, and recreational activities, along with community events — attracting more than 280,000 visits each year.

“We’ve got over 850 valued members that enjoy the facility including 24-hour gym, group fitness classes, café, social sports, crèche, vacation care program, and three multi-purpose competition courts.

“Court use at peak times has grown, especially for basketball and netball. The Centre also hosts major dance groups, church events, the popular Pickleball program and more recently a weekend-long Scitech program.

“It's home to clubs and leagues like the SouthWest Slammers, WABL, Eaton Basketball Association, Souwest Jets, Eaton Netball Association and Eaton Boomers Netball club – supporting talent from grassroots to pro level.”
