NEW: Learn to Play Pickleball Program!

Whether you're new to pickleball or looking to build your confidence on the court, ERC's new Learn to Play Pickleball program is the perfect place to get started.

This four-week program will run Tuesdays and Thursdays from Tuesday, 11 August to Thursday, 3 September with sessions held from 10am - 12pm, these welcoming sessions are designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of the game in a relaxed and supportive environment. Sessions will be facilitated by experienced ERC Pickleball participant and member Peter Kenny, who has generously volunteered his time to help grow the program and welcome new players.

The Learn to Play program has been introduced to support the continued growth of ERC Pickleball by creating more opportunities for new participants to join the community while encouraging greater participation in the game. Existing players are also encouraged to attend this session, providing increased opportunities for game time, social connection and a balanced playing experience across both morning sessions.

As part of the program:

  • New participants will receive their first four Learn to Play sessions free of charge, along with 50% off the 10am - 12pm social session during the activation period to encourage ongoing participation.
  • Current participants who attend the 10am - 12pm social session during the activation period will receive 50% off the session fee, supporting greater participation in the later session and creating more playing opportunities for everyone.

Pickleball is an enjoyable, inclusive sport suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities. Whether you're picking up a paddle for the first time or returning to the court, you'll be supported every step of the way. What is Pickleball?

Pickleball (sometimes spelled Pickle-Ball) is a paddleball sport (similar to a racket sport) that combines elements of badminton, table tennis, and tennis.

Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, much like a wiffle ball, with 26–40 round holes, over a net.

The sport shares features of other racket sports: the dimensions and layout of a badminton court, and a net and rules somewhat similar to tennis, with several modifications.
