Our team is da bomb!

At ERC we are lucky enough to have some of the best of the best Group Fitness instructors in the South West.  What makes them so great is their commitment to being the best instructors they can be, to inspire a life-long love of exercise and health and to give our members and customers an amazing experience each and every time they attend a class.

Its only half way through 2018 and already our dedicated team of group fitness instructors have spent their weekend’s learning, growing and getting better at what they do.  And it’s not just the weekend of their training, there is also a lot of prior preparation all the while, continuing to deliver their regular classes.  Not all superhero’s where capes, many of them wear head-set microphones.

Initial training

Ren Wilson

Congratulations:  Mel Jarred (Bodypump)

  • The first step in being able to instruct a specific program is the initial training.  This is a full weekend that is both physically and mentally challenging, even for the most experienced instructor like our Mel.  We also super proud of ERC member and Bodycombat enthusiast, Ren Wilson who has made the giant leap from participant to instructor trainee having completed her initial training in Bodycombat.  Watch this space ’cause we know our Ren is destined for big things!!

Advanced Instructor Module 1

Congratulations:  – Mel Jarred (GRIT Strength), Jaime Hughes (GRIT Strength), Lisa Buszan (Bodycombat)

  • A full 10 hour day in Perth where instructors learn the essentials to become better instructors in the program they teach. The focus of AIM 1 are the three key essentials of instructing – choreography, technique and coaching.  Instructors have two opportunities to present their allocated tracks and receive feedback from the Master Trainers.  They are assessed to be either not certified, certified or have passed/not passed AIM 1.  Once AIM 1 has been successfully completed, instructors can register for the next step in their professional development, AIM 2.

Advanced Instructor Module 2

Congratulations: Chantel Brown (Bodypump), Jackie Kampen (Bodypump), Shenae Bearman (Bodypump), Bryanna Wright (Bodypump), Andrew Haywood (RPM)

  • Two full days (10 hrs +)  in Perth where instructors add to their AIM 1 skills by focusing on participant connection and performance.  This means your instructor is adapting the way they present a class depending on the participants in front of them.  Your instructors are not just going through the motions, they are developing the tools to teach with purpose, and teach with authenticity & contrast; instructors learn to be the best at their craft and become ‘rock star instructors!’.   At AIM 2 training, Instructors have four opportunities to present their allocated tracks and are again assessed by Master Trainers as either certified (not passed AIM 2), Advanced or Elite.

Les Mills Quarterly workshops:

As if the AIM training isn’t enough, every quarter our instructors head up to Perth to experience the newest release of their particular programs with their state master trainers.  At the workshops the instructors become the participants which means they get to enjoy the class without the pressures of being on stage.  Instructors learn any new formats/moves/exercises, meet and network with other instructors from around the state and participate in a 1 hr education session to better their coaching.  Then the real work starts – instructors generally have 1-2 weeks of learning the new release before they launch it to ERC members.

Fear of commitment is no longer an excuse

No minimum join period and no cancellation fees EVER!

Many gyms charge “early cancellation fees” for anyone  wanting to cancel their memberships.  The belief is that by asking members to commit to a long term membership (usually at least 12 months), it would be better for business (cash flow) and encourages the member to use their membership in order to get their monies worth.

Hey, we had that mindset too – until recently when we started to change our way of thinking, just as people’s individual circumstances change. We get it now!  So we’re changing the way we do things at ERC and cancelling our cancellation fees!

We believe the onus is on US to retain YOU as a customer and we plan to do just that with competitive membership rates, excellent customer service, great facilties and programs, and flexible membership options.

You are Free to Cancel Anytime

The minimum 12 month joining period will no longer apply to anyone joining ERC after 6th May 2018.  If you need to cancel, you are free to do so at any time without fear of being charge a cancellation fee.   No cancellation fee means exactly that, you will not pay an early-termination fee or some other fee to end your membership with us.  The only obligation you will have should you decide to cancel your membership is to provide us with 4 weeks prior written notice of your intent – and its just a simple form to fill out for that.

If You Have Not Yet Made Up Your Mind and You Are Still Shopping Around For a Gym/Fitness Membership

Be cautious, not all fitness facilities offer $0 cancellation fees and there are often extra costs that aren’t immediately obvious.  Be sure to check the following while doing your reseach:

  • What cancellation fees apply if you don’t meet the minimum commitment period?
  • Is the membership agreement an ongoing agreement or will it expire on a specified date ?
  • Do I have to pay additional fees for an access device?
  • Do I have to pay extra for a Trainer to write a personalised program for me.

In a nut shell…..Pilates is a gentle type of exercise that focuses on spinal alignment & mobility (better posture!), core & pelvic stabilisation (strong abdominals!), pelvic floor muscles, flexibility and stress release. Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920‘s, and has stood the test of time due to its whole-body health benefits.

You’re in safe hands with our highly skilled Pilates instructor Chantel, who has over 15 years teaching in the fitness industry. Chantels classes are a learning journey, whereby she not only clearly explains and demonstrates how to complete exercises but also educates the benefits of why you should. Chantel believes it’s in everyone’s best interest to be participating in some form of mind & body class (e.g. Pilates, Yoga or Body Balance – all included on our timetable).

What can I expect in a Pilates class?

Soft, quiet and relaxing background music and an interactive class whereby Chantel can mould the class to suit the participants in front of her and provide modifications to those that need them. Chantel encourages questions during the class and offers hands on instruction to encourage adjustments & provide corrections to ensure exercises are done safely and effectively.
